Behavior

A Hellephant will wander aimlessly until a player either enters its detection radius or deals damage to it. Once aggravated, it will run toward the player and attack when in range. The Hellephant will stop pursuing if all players leave its detection radius or if it gets too close to a lit campfire.

If the Hellephant is not targeting a player and moves too far from its original spawn point, it will teleport back to its spawn location.

When defeated, the Lava Mammoth drops large amounts of cooked steak, has a chance to drop cooked ribs, and will also drop a tusk.

Appearance

The Lava Mammoth shares the same overall appearance as the original Mammoth. However, it has a red color scheme to match its volcanic environment, red glowing eyes, and no head fluff.

Trivia

  • The Hellephant spawns exclusively in the Volcano Biome, unlike the original Mammoth, which spawns in the Snow Biome.
  • A possible reason for adding the Lava Mammoth was to compensate for the Big Game Class nerf, which occurred when the Polar Bear and original Mammoth were temporarily removed for the introduction of the Volcanic Biome.
  • The Hellephant is the only entity that drops cooked loot without requiring the Burning Effect or cooking at a campfire.
  • It is currently the only variation of the Mammoth in the game.
  • Unlike the original Mammoth, which is neutral until attacked, the Hellephant is hostile and will attack players automatically if they get close enough.
  • The Hellephant is not mentioned in the Update Log within the game description, making it the only mob without an official developer mention.
