The Meteor Crab

The Meteor Crab is a hostile entity introduced in 99 Nights in the Forest during the *Meteor Shower Update.

Overview

Meteor Crabs are aggressive creatures that spawn in and around Meteor Craters. Typically, 1–2 Meteor Crabs appear per crater. When the game displays the message “The sky is on fire”, a meteor shower begins—multiple meteors rain down, creating Meteor Craters where Meteor Crabs emerge.

Meteor Crab

These crabs specifically spawn from grey crystal formations emitting black smoke at the center of a meteor impact site. Upon death, they drop “Morsel?”, a slightly off-pink or purple variant of the standard Morsel, though it functions identically.

Meteor Crabs can also appear in the Meteor Crater and the Meteor Tool Workshop. Visually, they resemble blocky charcoal creatures with a dark crimson oval shell, sharp claws, and glowing orange eyes.

Encounter

Starting around the third night, there is a chance for the event message “The sky is on fire” to appear. When this happens, up to seven Meteor Craters will form across the Level 1–2 Campfire areas, each with a possibility of spawning 1–2 Meteor Crabs, depending on the crater type.

Players should approach with caution—the Meteor Crab’s appearance marks one of the game’s most intense early hostile encounters.
