Behavior
Bunnies in 99 Nights in the Forest wander aimlessly until provoked. When a player deals damage, the bunny will hop away rapidly, attempting to escape at random intervals. If left undisturbed for a while, it will eventually stop running and resume wandering. Bunnies can be quite annoying to hunt, as they dart away upon being hit, often forcing players into a chase. They may also become stuck inside bushes, making them difficult to kill — though this can easily be solved by placing a Bunny Trap directly on top of them.
Spawn Areas
Biomes:
Bunnies can appear in multiple forest-related biomes, often near grassy or lightly wooded regions.
Locations:
They are typically found around bunny burrows, a unique structure exclusive to them.
Drops
Upon death, a Bunny can drop the following items:
- Morsels
- Bunny Foot
- Pelt (rare)
When killed by a Bunny Trap, they drop 3 Morsels automatically.
Tips
- When a Bunny Trap is triggered, the bunny dies instantly, dropping 3 Morsels.
- Placing a Bunny Trap near a burrow ensures quick kills as bunnies spawn.
- The Bunny Foot is valuable for early-game trading with the Pelt Trader and for crafting cold-weather clothing to explore the Snow Biome.
- Avoid using ranged weapons like bows on bunnies — their small size and quick movement make them hard to hit.
- Melee weapons, especially the Spear, are ideal due to their wide hitbox.
- Shooting bunnies from a distance sometimes prevents them from running away, but this is only effective with weapons that have infinite ammo (e.g., the Raygun or Laser Cannon).
- Bunny Feet can also serve as fuel in a Biofuel Processor, yielding 2 fuel points each — a good option if you’re running low.
Trivia
- Bunnies are the first passive animal entity in the game, followed by the Horse.
- They are the only entity with a unique spawn structure — the Bunny Burrow.
- A bunny is featured in the Crafting Update Trailer.
- For an unknown reason, bunnies appear to have angry expressions, caused by their tilted eyelids.
