Potion Making

Potion Making is a limited-time game mechanic introduced in the 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween update (Part 2) on October 25, 2025. Players brew potions using a Cauldron by combining specific ingredients, resulting in a random effect (either a beneficial Treat or harmful Trick) upon consumption. Each successful brew rewards 5 Candies, which can be spent in the Halloween Shop, and candies auto-collect after 40 seconds if left unattended (similar to Trick or Treating).

Potions are represented by the 🧪 symbol in the inventory and come in two colors: green for Treats (positive) and pink for Tricks (negative).

Cauldron

The Cauldron spawns automatically next to the Crafting Bench at your camp/campfire base. It displays the exact 3 ingredients (with quantities) required for the current brew above it—requests are random each time and change upon interaction.

A Recipe Book may appear next to it for reference.

Brewing Process

  1. Interact with the Cauldron to view required ingredients.
  2. Gather the exact types and quantities (drag from inventory).
  3. Drop them into the Cauldron one by one.
  4. Success: Produces 1 Potion + 5 Candies after a short animation.
  5. Failure (wrong ingredients): Explodes, consumes items, slight knockback (no progress reset).
  6. Drink/throw the Potion for a random effect (RNG-based; no fixed recipes).
  • Stepping inside: Applies Poison effect for a few seconds.
  • The area is safe from monsters (e.g., Deer) during brewing.

Ingredients

Ingredients are divided into Common (always available) and Event/Halloween (limited-time, often called “Fairy Required” or Rare). Both raw and cooked versions (e.g., Morsel/Cooked Morsel, Steak/Cooked Steak) may be accepted. Some sources note Event ingredients can also be obtained via Fairy trades (seeds for 20-50 Flowers).

  • Use on friends for fun Tricks, but risk backfire.
  • Event ingredients respawn; stockpile Commons.
  • Potions misled players (e.g., “Drops all HEALS” sounds positive).
  • Part of ongoing Halloween event; check for future parts.
