“A cursed survivor who grows stronger with every death, the Undead turns defeat into power. Each revival grants permanent buffs, slowly transforming the player into an unkillable revenant fueled by repeated resurrection.”

The Undead is a Revival / Support-Scaling class in 99 Nights in the Forest, designed for players who frequently die or play alongside teammates who can consistently revive them. This class does not excel in solo combat but becomes increasingly powerful through a unique mechanic: every revive grants a permanent, non-repeatable buff.

Starting with a Bandage and an Upgrade List, the Undead gains lasting stat upgrades with each resurrection, eventually becoming faster, tankier, and more efficient as the run progresses.

While weak early on and nearly unusable alone, the Undead becomes a powerhouse in coordinated team runs with reliable revivers.

Acquisition & Cost

The Undead can be purchased for 100 Diamonds.

The Undead grows stronger only by dying — making it one of the most unique progression-based classes in the game.

Perks and Leveling Progression

The Undead levels up not by combat, but by being revived multiple times, making it heavily team-dependent.

Starter & Level 1 Perks (Initial Unlock)

Starter Tool: Bandage

The Undead begins with a Bandage, essential for early survivability and allowing teammates to revive them more safely.

Level 1 Perk

Permanent Buffs on Every Revive

Each time the Undead is revived, they receive one random, permanent, non-repeatable buff from the Upgrade List:

  • +20 HP
  • +200 Coins
  • Hunger drains slower
  • Sprint speed increases
  • Crock Pot cooks faster

These buffs stack until all five are unlocked, making each death an opportunity to grow stronger.

Level 2 Requirements

RequirementNeeded
Be Revived30 times

Level 2 Perks

Instant Revival

At Level 2, allies can revive the Undead instantly, dramatically improving survivability during combat.

This allows the player to re-enter fights within seconds, ideal for chaotic team runs.

Level 3 Requirements (Max Level)

RequirementNeeded
Be Revived60 times

Level 3 Perks

8 Seconds of Movement After Death

At max level, the Undead can:

  • Move freely for 8 seconds after dying
  • Cannot attack during this time
  • Can reposition to a safer location for revival
  • Aggro from enemies does not follow them during the post-death movement

This makes revives dramatically easier and safer for teammates.

Strategic Analysis & Gameplay

The Undead is built for:

  • Scaling through repeated revival
  • Team-oriented runs
  • Support-based growth
  • Purposely resetting to gain buffs

This class performs best when paired with:

  • A teammate with Bandages, Medkits, or Medic class
  • A reliable communication partner
  • A coordinated team that understands the revive loop strategy

While nearly useless in solo play without purchasing Respawn Capsules, the Undead becomes extremely powerful in multiplayer as buffs accumulate.

Tips & Tricks

  • Level 2 instant revive allows extremely fast resets — great for strong teams.
  • Level 3 movement after death helps you reach a safe spot before reviving.
  • Don’t intentionally aim for “faster Crock Pot” buff — it’s the weakest and only useful by chance.
  • The sprint speed buff is the most valuable — keep resetting until you obtain it.
  • With enough buffs, the Undead becomes tankier and more mobile than many classes.
  • In solo play, you must use Respawn Capsules to gain your buffs (not recommended due to cost).
  • If leveling with a friend, use a loop:
    1. The Undead dies
    2. Teammate revives
    3. Reset
    4. Repeat
  • Optimally, the teammate reviving should be a Medic or any class with starting bandages.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Cheapest class that provides a sprint speed buff.
  • Gains permanent stats with each revive.
  • Becomes significantly harder to kill over time.
  • Level 2 instant revive is exceptionally strong in team combat.
  • Level 3 death movement can save entire runs.

Cons

  • Nearly useless in solo unless using purchased revives.
  • Requires many bandages and teamwork to function.
  • Two buffs (200 coins and fast Crock Pot) are mediocre.
  • Very slow and difficult to level up.
  • Heavily dependent on teammate cooperation.

Upgrade List (Revive Buffs)

Each revive grants exactly one of the following buffs.
Buffs cannot repeat.

  • +20 HP
  • +200 Coins
  • Hunger drains slower
  • Sprint faster
  • Crock Pot cooks faster

Trivia

  • The Undead was added during the 2x Gem Weekend + Classes MK III Update, alongside Beastmaster and Necromancer.
  • One of the only classes that becomes stronger specifically by dying.
